The Jump

After three and a half years, I left work with Ares Management on February 12, 2025. I have decided to take an extended break, travel parts of the world, and focus on other pursuits: writing, reading, skill development.

The idea of not working in my former capacity was fun when the idea was merely thought. However, now that I am living it, it is rather scary. The future is vastly open and opaque. I have at once the freedom to strike any path and the paralysis that comes with such limitless options. My world is no longer neatly defined and structured. It feels immense. I suppose that when you have a routine and the certainty of its schedule, your focus is so narrow that you may overlook the world’s complexity, beauty, and danger. I feel them now.

I am alive: excited and terrified. This opportunity was a long time coming. And I’m proud of myself for making the jump. We are about to see whether I land on my feet.
