Grateful for a Run
I am grateful for a run. I am thankful to feel the air brush my skin, feel my lungs compress against my chest, and feel my legs stride across the earth. I am grateful to connect with my body, to feel it work in coordination with every component; to feel my feet, legs, hip, arms, etc. work in concert. Running, I am truly alive and present. It feels as if I was born to run, that running is core to what makes me human. I feel primal. I am an athlete—no better yet an apex animal, lean, mean, and dangerous. This is my runner’s high. I feel empowered. Yes, I am a marvel of biology, of evolution, of engineering. I am boiling with confidence, that swagger of self-love. I really needed to feel that today.
I am grateful for a run.
