Grateful for Music
I am grateful for music; that I can surround myself with the art of sound and its pioneers, on-demand.
Music has never been more accessible. I live in the golden age of music’s accessibility, affordability, and convenience. As fast as my internet connection can allow, I can connect with my favorite artists of any time across all genres. I can summon the mood of music of my choosing; that I can pick a song to cry to, to dance to, to energize me, and to love someone.
Music has never been freer. With the advent of streaming and at-home music production software (just to name a few drivers), music has never been more democratic as more artists can reach even more listeners. I am one of those listeners. I benefit from the new technologies of music creation and distribution. My well-being knows how much music means to me.
Lastly, music has never sounded better. Headphones, speakers, speakers in cars, speakers in venues, it matters not. Given the current technology and equipment, the quality of sound that I can enjoy is simply incredible and unprecedented.
A friend of mine once told me what music represents to him. I found his words utterly profound and would like to share them with you.
If art is the way we decorate space, then music is the way we decorate time. - AG
In the life that I am lucky enough to live, I can decorate my time. I can decorate it my way, with the art that is expressed through time, with the artists and songs, melodies and rhythms that I hold dear. Awesome, in the truest sense of the word.
I am grateful for music.
