Grateful to Walk
I am grateful to walk, for any time to put one foot after the other and go. While I walk often and while the movements seem natural and involuntary, like the beat of my heart, mobility should never be regarded as mundane. Walking is freedom. It is the freedom to move, to transport myself and what I can carry, my body, ideas, and all. Whether I stroll in a park, street, beach, or trail, the destination is of lesser importance. While walking, I have the liberty of motion, to decide where I go, what I can and can’t see, and what I can or can’t experience.
Walking is also a pleasure, an activity to be enjoyed. While having a good or bad day, taking a walk seems to both uplift and I dare say enlighten. Walking is slow and somehow thoughts follow that pace. On a walk anywhere, the things that matter most and those that matter none are revealed. A walk clears the clutter, the hoarded abstractions and delusions of my ego and insecurities. As I walk on, I learn to walk away, to unclog and meditate while moving.
I am grateful to walk.
