Grateful to Have Enough

I am grateful to have enough; that in absolute terms, I have no need for anything else; that my problems in fact stem from the manifestations of my mind rather than the reality of the world. I am thankful that I have enough money, and that I don’t live my life with overwhelming and obsessive financial concerns. By having enough, money becomes a means, not an end. With enough money, I am liberated to focus on perhaps the more real aspects of life: family, friends, experience, love, etc. I am thankful to recognize that enough is enough, for having the common sense that anything more is merely superfluous. I should not delude myself that there is something exogenous in this world that will make me whole. Completeness comes from fortitude and acceptance. There is a toxicity in unrestrained comparison, to believe that the grass can always be greener on the other side of the hill. There is poison in believing in terms of “deserved” or “fair”, for what do I know about others and the world? With enough, I have all the ingredients required to live a grateful, happy, and fulfilling life. With enough, there is only one constraint to such a good life. Me.

I am grateful to have enough.
